Critical materials research in energy studies is essential, since these scarce elements and minerals are vital for clean, efficient energy technologies. The ERC is engaged in projects to characterize waste streams for rare earth elements and lithium, as well as development of electrochemical and physical-chemical techniques for recovery of those materials.
