The Energy Research Center (ERC) is a multidisciplinary research group that involves professional staff, faculty and students at Lehigh University.
The ERC was founded in 1973 to provide solutions to the Nation’s energy problems, with an emphasis on electric power generation and clean coal research.
The ERC is committed to providing fundamental and applied research, and development, demonstration and commercialization of technologies in support of the energy transition and for the efficient use of energy resources, sustainable development, energy independence, and environmental protection and climate change mitigation.
Visit the different research areas at the ERC. The ERC research framework and approach is based on crosscuts across multidisciplinary fields which include topics related to advanced energy systems, decarbonization and carbon capture and sequestration, low-emission technologies and alternative fuels, penetration and integration of renewable energy and energy storage, and complementary aspects such as artificial intelligence (AI) for energy, production of critical minerals and materials (CMM), and socio-economic, policy and economic aspects of energy technologies .
